Built between 1882 and 1887, The Northumberland began life as a 500 room ‘grand style hotel’ called The Victoria. Requisitioned by the War Office in 1940, the doors of 8 Northumberland were to remain closed to the public for the next 70 years. A shadow of its former self, the building was in a near derelict state when a multi-million pound restoration project began in 2009. Spring 2010 saw 8 Northumberland open its doors to the public once again. We are suckers for a bit of history and we think its grand Victorian ballroom creates a stunning backdrop for Cybher.
